Graph Generator

The problem...

Some of our most popular sites rely on a large amount of data to make them work, for example PetrolPrices.com. This data is really interesting, especially to journalists, but we were finding it hard to get the press to sit up and take notice when all we could show them was list of figures. The databases weren't particularly user-friendly to non-techie types either, so we needed a way to manage all the data across our sites. We wanted to be able to present it in a more interesting way, so that we could include it in press, but also so we could look at it and analyse trends which might help us run our sites even more successfully.

... the solution

We made the Graph Generator.

The Graph Generator is a brilliant way of analysing, understanding and presenting large amounts of data. It can take any set of data, and turn it into an easy to understand graph or table. It also lets you control every aspect of how the finished graph looks, which is really useful when making graphs for the media.

You simply choose the data range, and enter a title and titles for the axes, and choose how you would like it displayed - the Graph Generator gives the option to display the data in a table, a bar graph or a line graph.

Once the graph has been made you can alter the size, and save it as a psd file (to make sure that it can't be altered if you need to send it via email).

Graph Generator

At the minute we use the Graph Generator mainly to make graphs to accompany articles in the press or on our blogs. However, it has been built so the graph class can be expanded to represent any data as an image, to use in slideshow presentations, websites, email marketing or anywhere else you can think of.
