We are looking for a bright and highly motivated person with a strong Linux background to join our engineering team. The successful applicant will play a key role in developing and supporting our 100% Linux hosting infrastructure in a fast fast-paced, high traffic Web environment. About the Position: Working alongside our Linux gurus, this position will include a range of "systems-" activities from installation, configuration and administration to programming. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong scripting skills in BASH and Perl, plus ideally some experience with one or more other languages commonly used in the Linux environment such as C/C++, Python, PHP, Ruby etc. When not writing code to manage and integrate our hosting infrastructure, the successful applicant will spend time learning about and developing their own ideas for our hosting platform and will come into contact with lots of cool hardware and technologies like storage, network and server virtualisation. The role will also include an aspect of support, straddling the first and second line tech support teams as we develop our new web hosting service and ramp up our operations. The salary will offer £16-18k depending upon skills and experience. Job Benefits: A fast virtual server with full root access on one of our clusters (for personal use), Fast computer hardware, Free books, Free On-Site Parking, Flexible working hours, Casual dress code, Smart colleagues, Mini cinema with 7.1 surround sound, Halo3 at lunchtimes on our Xbox 360 and giant high definition projector, Tennis & Basketball courts, Communal kitchen area - and most important of all... Big challenges! We want someone who: - - Gets excited about Linux and knows about Open Source - - Can conceptualise large, distributed computer clusters - - Can compile the Linux kernel and has a preferred filesystem - - Really cares about the quality of their code - - Doesn't give up when problems get hard - - Is one day planning to grow a long messy beard (*optional) About Fubra: Fubra is a stable company that is now 7 years old but still has a start-up culture. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on your own ideas, learn from your peers and really contribute to the company's development. Our culture is one that listens to all our staff and develops good ideas into functioning systems that you can be proud of. How to Apply: If this sounds like you, please email and include a copy of your C.V. along with a covering email telling us more about your Linux or coding experience. If you work or have worked on Open Source software projects, tell us about it and provide links wherever possible. You don't need a degree but you do need to be very good at what you do.`.------.` `-://:::::/+oo/. `-:-.....---:/+oyyo. `/:....`````.-:/+osyy-` ::-...````.`..-/+++syy-` `+/-.....`....--:+oosyh/.` `+//:-.--..-.:/:/+ssyhh+.` `o//::--::::///++osyhdd/.` `:so++//++++++++ssshddy:.` `./ssssooooossssyhddds/-.` `.:oyhhyyyyyyyhdddy+/-.` `.-:+syyyyyhhhyo+/:-.` `.-/+ooooo+++/////+++ooooo+/:-` `./+ossyyyyyyyhh/.../ssyyyyyyyyyys+. `-/osyyyyyyyyyyhd+.````/yyyyyyyyyyyyyyo. `:+syyyyyyyyyyyhh/-.` `./yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy/` `/osyyyyyyyyyyyhd+-.` `./yyyyyyyyyyyyyyh+` :osyyyyyyyyyyyydy-.` `.ssyyyyyyyyyyyyyd:` `osyyyyyyyyyyyyymo.` `osyyyyyyyyyyyyyds.` `osyyyyyyyyyyyyymo.` `+syyyyyyyyyyyyydy.` `+syyyyyyyyyyyyydo.` `ooyyyyyyyyyyyyydo.` `-yyyyyyyyyyyyyyhh-` .ssyyyyyyyyyyyyhh:.` `/yyyyyyyyyyyyyyd+`` `+oyyyyyyyyyyyyhh/-` `.:syyyyyyyyyyyyyd+. `/osyyyyyyyyyyhdy/-` ``-/syyyyyyyyyyyyds.` .+osyyyyyyyyyhhy+:.` `.-/oyyyyyyyhhhhy:.-`:oyhhyhyhhhhys+:-.` ``.-:/++ooo++/++oyyo///+osooo+/:-.`` ````...-ossssyyyyyhh+-.....``` `.+yhyyyyhdh+.`` `.-+syyys/--`` ``.---..``
