Red Nose Day 2011 at Fubra HQ
Red Nose Day 2011 has just passed, and everyone at Fubra decided that we should do something a bit out of the ordinary this year to raise money for this great cause. Ideas came flooding in ranging from a quiz night or all night game-a-thon to a bush tucker trial style buffet for all! We thought long and hard and settled on a few things that everyone could take part in. It turned out some of us were particularly eager to take on a funny task for charity and our well loved graphic designer, Nick Haines, had no hesitations in making the most of his already look-a-like appearance, by offering to dress up as Commander Riker from Star Trek for the day (if we raised enough money of course!) We all agreed this would be funny, but wanted to take it that little bit further, so emptied our pockets for him to dress up as Riker for a whole week rather than just the day.
The costume arrived, and on Monday 14th March, Nick came into work fully prepared (beard trimmed, hair in the style of Riker, facial expression toned and polished) and we handed over the costume, with instructions to make sure it got a lot of exposure. Take a look at the resemblance below. During the week Nick reluctantly willingly took part in the many embarrassing challenges we set for him, including a trip to the bakery and into town. It turned out that people in Aldershot didn’t really bat an eyelid at the fact he was dressed as a Star Trek enthusiast! Read the rest of this entry »
Happy Halloween from Fubra
Firstly I would just like to wish everybody a Happy Halloween and I hope you all have a devilishly good weekend!
It has been a busy week here at Fubra with investments, birthdays and lots of late nights making some cool Halloween posts for SixCrayons. Just like to say a big welcome to new Fubra investment Marble Construction who we have already been working with this week.
A few weeks ago myself and fellow designer Nick decided to create a couple of Halloween posts for SixCrayons. After a few late nights of pizza and lots of Cherry Coke we finally got them done. I created a rather fun Zombie Transformation Tutorial taking a few of the Fubra staff and turning them into Zombies.
Nick - being a huge movie geek - made a GhostBusters Isometric tutorial including all the GhostBusters, Ecto One and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Check out the full tutorial and be sure to ask him in the comments if there is anything you would like to know how to do. He has also included the Ai file of Ecto One for you to download and play with.

One person who has been extra busy also outside of work is Annie, who has been making personalised cakes for the staff birthdays.
Annie bases her cakes around each member of staff’s personal interest, this week it was Steve’s birthday. He has a fascination with anything LEGO, hence this rather impressive LEGO minifig cake based on Steve himself!
Not only has Annie been making birthday cakes, we also had a selection of Halloween treats this morning ready for when we all arrived work! Great stuff – Thanks Annie!
Happy Halloween!
Cake Friday – Flapjack
Fridays at Fubra have been especially nice over the past few weeks thanks to Annie McLoughlin and her talented cake making skills.
Each Week she has been bringing in different cakes for the staff to get their teeth into, so we thought we would write a little post now and again to show our appreciation of all these lovely, tasty snacks she presents us with.
Today’s Cake Friday included some very tasty Flapjacks – Thanks Annie!
