Cake Friday – Flapjack
Fridays at Fubra have been especially nice over the past few weeks thanks to Annie McLoughlin and her talented cake making skills.
Each Week she has been bringing in different cakes for the staff to get their teeth into, so we thought we would write a little post now and again to show our appreciation of all these lovely, tasty snacks she presents us with.
Today’s Cake Friday included some very tasty Flapjacks – Thanks Annie!

Designing the new Fubra logo
On July 15th 2009 we launched a complete redesign of Fubra. I will be blogging about this soon, but thought I would do a quick post about the evolution of our Fubra logo. I needed to update our logo without changing it too much so that it wasn’t un recognisable. I am lucky here at Fubra as I am given a free reign to let my creativity flow with such things as designs and logos.
I felt the logo, which had become outdated, needed a good makeover to make it fresher and younger. I have attached a few quick sketches I produced while coming up with the new Fubra logo design. The sketch attached is the one I made my main breakthrough on. I branched off with many ideas, totally recreating the logo in many different shapes and colours. I eventually found our default colours to be most recognisable with Fubra.

We’re looking for interns
The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills today took the wraps off their new online initiative: the Graduate Talent Pool. The idea is simple — provide a single location where graduates (and soon-to-be graduates) can go to look for internships, and a place for companies, looking to beef up their graduate recruitment, to advertise their current intern vacancies. Fubra has got on board with the scheme and is advertising a number of exciting positions.
While all of our positions are unpaid (except for expenses) they offer great experience working within a young, exciting new media company, the chance to expand the student’s portfolio, as well as the possibility of a paid position if we’re impressed during the internship. 10 reasons to use Clear Books
For the last 12 months, we’ve been busy working on an online accounting system called Clear Books. At the beginning of July we officially launched the system and removed it’s beta status. In this post I’m going to highlight 10 reasons why you should be using it:
Invoicing
- PDF Invoice generation, with “2 click” e-mailing to customers. Clear Books makes it easy to create invoices, automatically calculating VAT and any discounts you want to apply. You can then send them to clients with the built in e-mail tool (or print them and send via snail mail).

- Auto-reminder e-mails for unpaid invoices. The system can be set up to send out regular e-mails to remind clients of any unpaid invoices that are outstanding, which encourages them to pay more promptly.
- Online Client Statements. Client’s can be sent a link to a secure area where they can see a realtime statement of their paid and unpaid invoices. They can also save or print any of their past invoices. Read the rest of this entry »
Driving down airport parking costs
We have worked hard at Fubra to produce lots of exciting, informative and great looking websites and our main aim is to make sure that we give our visitors the information they need using an easy to read and navigate design.
One of the first websites we did this on was our dedicated Airport Parking Shop service where visitors who are planning to travel to and from the UK’s airports can search around the top airport parking brokers and ensure they get the best deal on their airport parking.
Airport Parking Shop compares deals for parking at the major UK airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Luton plus most of the smaller ones too. Covering 24 locations and over 100 airport car parks across the UK! We even cover parking at Dover ferry port. Passengers can take advantage of saving an average of 48% or £67.87 when comparing with all 6 of the biggest airport parking brokers in the UK airport car parks. Read the rest of this entry »
