The Fubra Blog
A House Price Crash could be very close
When we bought the web’s most popular house price discussion site HousePriceCrash.co.uk last year traffic was high and we expected it to get higher as we approached the point where a correction in house prices became completely inevitable.
We put a lot of effort into a redesign of the site and subscriptions have soared since then. But the most impressive growth has been in the traffic to the site. It now stands at over 20,000 visitors a day which is over double last year’s traffic numbers.
We expect this traffic trend to continue as the correction in house prices starts to gather momentum throughout 2008. While this is happening we aim build on the sites position as the ultimate information resource on the latest developments in the market by adding more tools and features.
One such feature we have added recently is to change the home page graph from a static image to a dynamically generated one that we think is just as good looking. It’s a great addition because we now have the very latest graphing on the front page all the time and there is much more to come.
We hope you enjoy the site and look forward to joining you in buying a cheaper property in a few years time.
The Birth of our Talkon.it Network
Back in November 2000, just a few months after Fubra Limited was formed, we registered the domain TalkOn.it. This was part of a general domain buying strategy that Brendan had been pursuing to get some of the web’s wackiest finest domain names; buyon.it, sellon.it, startabusinesson.it – letsface.it, youname.it, wehad.it!
Since then I have always poked fun at him as to when we would ever get round to using these domains, but not any more… as now that time has finally come!
Today marks the alpha launch of our new network of websites: The TalkOn.it Network. These sites are focussed around a number of specific interests, initially sports, where we are aiming to build a thriving community of passionate aficionados.
To give you an idea of what you can expect:
- Beautifully illustrated guides to each sport, such our page on Football Tactics
- Fubra Passport enabled discussion forums
- Daily podcasts and vidcasts from our resident Sports Geek Expert – Neil
And loads more!
So… just maybe… Brendan might get the last laugh after all!
Livetodot is getting much better
A few months back we had a soft re-launch of the new version of our domain name web site Livetodot.com which we have been operating since we started Fubra. We have corrected a lot of small issues and have continued to work hard towards building and adjusted our pricing model.
New features includes a .it domains ‘in trust’ product that allows customers to buy a domain name via Fubra if they are outside the EU for a small extra fee.
We have also introduced much better contact management which we think will help companies that have a lot of domains to manage. Using our system they can update things in one place and Livetodot will do the rest for them. On most sites you have to update each and every domain name individually if you move office for example. Personally I have found this a common and frustrating problem with most domain web sites.
Fubra breaks the 3 million UV barrier!
I’ve just been checking our stats and whilst we have been growing fast since we started 7 years ago, in the last 3 years things have really gone into overdrive.
In July the number of unique visitors (UV) to Fubra owned web sites topped 3 million for the first time in our history. In fact it hit 3,010,675! Those visitors came back to one of our sites on average 1.56434 times creating 4,709,713 unique visits and generating over 236,874,918 hits to our web servers yes that is nearly 237 million hits in a month!
